Privacy Policy — Bidaya

Last updated: 2026-08-15

No ads, no data sales: your journey is private by default, and your journal is readable by you alone.

1. Account and syncing

The first time you open it, the app automatically creates an anonymous account: a technical identifier, with no name, no email address, and no information about you. You can use the entire app this way, without ever telling us anything.

If you want to find your journey again on another device or after reinstalling, you can attach an email address to that account (sign-in link sent by email, or Apple ID). This address is only used to sign you back in: it is never used to write to you for any other purpose, and never passed on to anyone.

We use Supabase to host the database and handle that sign-in. Data is hosted in the European Union and encrypted in transit. Database-level access rules ensure your account is the only one able to read its own data.

2. Progress and journal

Your progress through the 90-day path, your preferences, and your reflection journal are saved on your device, then synced to your account so they aren't lost.

Your journal is strictly personal. It is attached to your account alone, is visible to no other user, is neither read nor analysed by Studio Kayan, and is never used to produce any statistics. You can export it as a PDF from the app.

3. Location

Your location is used on-device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction; in that case it never leaves your phone. It is only transmitted when you run a search for nearby mosques: the request is then relayed to Google Places by our server, without any account identifier and without being kept by us.

The location permission is optional. If you decline it, the rest of the app keeps working normally.

4. Crash reports

To improve the app's stability, we use Sentry. If a crash or technical error occurs, certain technical information may be sent automatically: app version, operating system version, device model, and information needed to identify and fix the error. This information is never used to identify you or for advertising purposes, and never contains the content of your journal.

5. Supporting Studio Kayan

If you choose to support Studio Kayan through an in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple or Google. We use RevenueCat to manage these in-app purchases and their restoration. Studio Kayan never receives your banking information or payment method details.

This support is entirely optional and grants no advantage, extra feature, or exclusive content.

6. What we don't collect

7. What we use it for

Running the app, letting you find your journey again from one device to another, and fixing technical errors. That's it: no advertising, no profiling, never any resale of data.

8. Subprocessors

9. External links

The app's lexicon offers explanatory videos hosted on third-party platforms, and the mosque finder opens directions in your maps app. As soon as you leave the app to use an external service, that service's privacy policy applies.

10. Retention and deletion

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete it at any time, along with all associated data — see the "Delete my account" page linked at the bottom of this page. Technical backup copies are purged within 30 days.

An anonymous account left unused for 12 months is deleted automatically.

11. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, delete, and port your data. You can export your journal from the app, delete your account from the settings, or write to us: support@studiokayan.com.

12. Children

Bidaya can be used by all audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal data about children.

13. Contact

For any question about your data: support@studiokayan.com (Studio Kayan). We reply within 7 days.
